A gift of Love and friendship

i don't know if I ever posted a pic of the beautiful quilt that was made for me from a group that I have been in for quite a few years. About 2 years ago I was having a really rough time in my life and the girls from the beginners and beyond group got together and gifted me with this beautiful quilt. I take it with me if I go away and it is on my bed most times. It made me feel special and I really love this quilt it has such a special meaning to me. I hope you enjoy it.

2009 Jan Pateks girl gang

I just wanted to post a pic of the Girl Gang that I have been doing since January of this year. It is all handstitched and we only have 4 more blocks to go plus the flying geese and then we can start putting it together. I can't wait!

There is a new stitchery bom that is starting on the new Ruby Woman enzine that is out. I went to get some off white linen and saw this pretty light, light green so I changed my mind and I think it will look awesome done in this color..What do you think. I don't even know if the light green color will come out..

Betty Boop

I just wanted to post a pic of my favorite cartoon character and I still collect things with her sassy way about her..

Dayton's first football game

Dayton had his first game today and it was hot and muggy out. I felt so sorry for him dressed up in all that gear the water was just running down the side of his face. But I wanted to share a photo of him in all his gear.. enjoy

Layering my Stitches

It is so hard for me to find the time to stitch anymore. My job is pretty stressful lately well the last 4 months or so and I never seem to have much "me" time between all that goes on at work and at home. I am constantly bringing it home with me and I need to stop it right now. Don't get me wrong I am so thankful I have a job in this day and age but it has been a bit overwhelming. But enough about that.
I have a mentor that has been helping me learn to layer my stitches. She is a wonderful friend named Leslie and I promised myself I am going to just somehow make the time and tonight I did just that here is the Herringbone and the Cretan stitch which the later I am not fond of. I really like the way it looks just not the way I make it look. Do you know what I mean? Hopefully this Saturday I will visit with a stitching buddy here in Chattanooga, Linda, but I will have to see if I have to work on Saturday first. So here is a pic I wanted to share. All helpful criticism is welcomed but please be Enjoy your Day!!!!!

Grandson and football

Well after all this time I finally get to watch my 7 year old grandson playing football. Well he is not playing yet but practicing... It seems like we have been waiting forever since he left us a few years ago and we only got to see him every now and again. He use to live with us when he was 4 & 5 then his Momma came and took him back to Florida with her and now he is back again. I can not tell you how if fills my heart with such joy to have him back with us again.. Here is a few pics of him in his uniform.

Feed Sacks

I have to share this tidbit of news. About 2 or 3 months ago I was gifted with 2 bags of fabric if you remember. Come to find out they were all vintage fabric from the 1925ish to 1932ish period. Well yesterday I was gifted with another bag of feed sacks from the same Lady and they are all different from the first 2 bags. She had told me that there was a missing bag and she would have to find it and well she did. I never was into this kind of fabric but after reading up on it and really giving it a gander it has grown on me. I hope to post pics after I get them all straightened out, which thanks to Vicki who helped me with the first 2, will help me with this one also. I have the story about where they came from and everything and I think that is what even appealed to me more. Just had to share!! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Long & Short stitch

I am working on some handwork at the present time. Needle & Thread, Mary's site is having a lesson on the long & short stitch. So this is a pic of just one box that I have done so far following her directions. I think it does look pretty.
